California is the Golden State and reports and analysis states that if California was an Independent County, economically California would rank tenth in the world or maybe eight give or take what reports you read approximately 1.7 trillion dollars and contributes approximately 13% to the United States of Americas GDP (gross domestic product). California has so much, a diverse culture, topography like no other place on the planet and industries like Hollywood, Silicon Valley, wine countries north and south and an agricultural industry unparalleled and so much more it is “Golden.” So imagine with all its wealth that education is being slashed, teachers pink slipped, bus drivers and janitors being fired and students will be crowed into over packed classrooms at all educational school levels from the K grade to universities. Teachers from the K grades to the twelfth grade have out of their own pockets for years bought school supplies and have invested their own time to teach in a thankless profession, ever wonder why teachers care at all, no teacher ever gets wealthy monetarily except for the reward of being a teacher….I don’t think so, they know that our national treasure are the children of this nation. Parents, teachers, students have a real issue to confront, the slashing of the educational system of the United States of America. The United States of America can fund a war with real or imagined threats to our national security, money can be found for that and huge profits made for some with special interests. But when it comes to the education of the children of the United States there seems to be a malaise of unintelligible rhetoric of noise. California with vast resources is one of the bell weather states of things to come, what happens here will reach all across the United States of America; it is just a matter of time. You can be complacent and hope you are not the next state to start pink slipping teachers, having overcrowding classes and wonder why Johnny can’t read or write and if you are a parent, how many hours of homework is your child required to do now; it will double when there are so few people willing to become teachers. Support the teachers and students of California with a simple unified statement to the governor and legislators of California….Shout No! Contact everyone you know and then contact your local officials and move on and up to Sacramento. One step at a time, one phone call at a time and yes one T-shirt at a time….in unity there is strength MLK and Gandhi knew that and it works and will work you need to get involved now. It is a crisis and a travesty and it should make you very angry…if money can be found for war money can be found for education.
