These patterns are preparatory maquettes, paintings for designs to be printed on fabrics, made with gouache on paper for the Haussmann workrooms at Logelbach near Colmar and preserved at the Musée de l’Impression sur Etoffes in Mulhouse, France, in its documentation center. They were made between 1780 and 1810. They bring to life a fascinating but little known epoch in the history of printed materials.

This print called 'Pompaudour Flower', was done at the Haussman workrooms in 1780. It is Gouache on paper. There is a small green flower vine connecting all the flowers in the print. The flowers themselves are unusal in shape and extremely detailed and colorful. The background is black. The accent colors are grey and white.
