"A Dance Around the Moon was created by Victorian artist Charles Altamont Doyle. Doyle was the son of the political cartoonist John Doyle, brother of artist Richard Doyle, and father of Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes." He wholeheartedly supported the existence of fairies and it is said that he spent over a million dollars on their cause. Throughout his life, Charles Altamont Doyle suffered from bouts of depression, which he relieved with alcohol. As the years progressed, so did his drinking. His mental health declined and he began to hallucinate. and have seizures. He spent the last twelve years institutionalized. Throughout it all, he continued to create wonderful artwork.
