In 1965 the Polish designer Zelek made a poster for Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The birds" (Ptaki in Polish) with grate skill and very little use of imagery. Using only a winged skull and text he was able to represent spirit of the movie. This design is an adaptation of the original one, and is intended as tribute both for the movie as for the designer. About Ptaki

Not long ago I was unaware of the works of Bronislaw Zelek, it was because an assignment at University that I was requested to research Polish poster makers and found him. This design is as it is said in the description an adaptation, some changes were made to transfer what was intended as poster to a t-shirt design. The thing that call my attention to Zelek's work was that he could show with intelligence and little graphic resources a complex message. Ptaki is the poster he made for Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" of 1964. At the time there every poster was made locally, and specially in Poland where there was an official organization for that purpose alone, which was controlled and sensored by the government. Zelek was one of those "designers" that worked developing the image of movies in posters. This period and it designers caught my attention and specially this particular design. So that is why I decided to make a tshirt version of Ptaki.
