Photograph by Eric Aitken. In the summertime the waterfall and pool are a great place to stop and cool off after a busy day of sightseeing and hiking in Yosemite. Rainbow Pool is a local favorite; a natural swimming hole along the south fork of the Tuolumne River, where you can dip your feet, take a plunge or jump from the rock-lined ledges into the largest of the inviting pools. A short waterfall drops into the pool, providing a beautiful backdrop and keeping the water fresh. The area is accessible year round. Swimming is best in the summer; hiking and fishing are good all year long. Rainbow Pool is only a four-minute drive from Yosemite Ridge Resort.
