Remington's Old Stagecoach of the Plains (1901) Postcard
A classic artwork that has passed into the public domain and makes wonderful gifts and other products.
A stagecoach dashing through the night on a rocky trail. Danger is suggested by the speed at which it careens down the rough road, and by the man keeping watch with a shotgun atop the coach.
Remington was the foremost illustrator, painter, and sculptor of the American West at the close of the frontier era, at the end of the 19th century. His sculptures of cowboys are iconic, and his painting of cowboys, Indians, soldiers and frontiersmen were highly popular during his lifetime and have only become more so in the century since.
