A painting done by Margarita Gonzales Niera around 1914 at the age of between 14-16 years. It was commensurate of the times while during formal education many forms of creativity were required for graduation in Mexico where she was born and lived. She was my grandmother. This painting was done soley with a brush that had only one pig hair on it. That was the assignment given her. She also mastered wood carving/painting, leather work/painting, sewing, tatting, knitting, embroidery and was the best at making bread that was as light as clouds. She was raised by Asian as well as Hispanic servants so was excellent not only in her cultural cuisine she also created chinese dishes and could speak a bit of chinese as well.
