Describes themself as: Susanne Cerha is the only daughter of Swedish-Slovakian fine artist Magdalena Cerha (www.magdalenacerha.net). Susanne began her design career in Stockholm, Sweden in 1989, working various advertising agencies for five years. Here she acquired a traditional, hands-on knowledge of typography, lettering and various printing techniques. As Apple launched their Macintosh products in 1986, she was one of the first generations to use this new tool for design, and has moved with the technology ever since.
In 1995 Susanne boldly packed one suitcase and left Sweden for New York and four years of design and art studies at School Of Visual Arts. These four years allowed her to mature as a designer and as an artist; her strict and traditional schooling now paired up with new thinking, new technology, new people and a great will to experiment so as to turn knowledge into wisdom. During this time period, much of her student work made it into international design annuals and books. She graduated in 1999, with a gold medal of honor, in the top 5% of her class.
Immediately, she was hand-picked into the creative team at Sony Music Entertainment to conceptualize, execute and design marketing products for full length albums and singles. This includes billboard advertising, posters, websites and television spots. She worked directly with recording artists, such as Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Shakira, J-Lo, and more. Recently Sony Music merged with BMG, and Susanne created the new world wide logo and graphic profile. Sony Bmg owns 40% of the global music market.
Together with husband Terje Vist, Susanne formed Silo Design Inc. in 2001, where her role has been focused on underground recording artists, flash based web design, action scripting and art. Susanne exhibits paintings annually at the D.U.M.B.O. Art Festival, when she opens up the doors to Silo Design for one full weekend in October.
