Getting a shoe shine in Lima is easy. On any afternoon dozens of people stop by the shoe circle in Parque Kennedy where the shoe shine guys do a shining job of beautifying any pair of shoes for a couple of soles (less than a dollar). I've even had them try to get me to shine up my sandles, which I didn't find necessary. But I have let them shine my leather sneakers and they look great! This photo of the shoe shine guys at work is another of my photographs of people at work in Peru, where most anything can be fixed or repaired or improved upon in some way, and things are not normally thrown away just because they're worn out a bit or have stopped working.
