Singapore is one of my favorite cities. I never get tired of it no matter how many times I have been there. I think it has a lot of character both because of and in spite of the development. I've met a number of travelers who think that the old Singapore was better and all the development has caused it to lose its charm. In this shot you can see old Singapore contrasted with the new. I regret not having many completely clear skies this trip but the washed out background did help me to being out the foreground better. The foreground is the edge of Chinatown's night market which is still very traditional Singapore with the round red lamps, brick streets, the stalls and the colorful store signs. The photo was taken not long after a rain so the photo is enhanced by the reflecting light from the wet road although dampened a little by the mist in the air.
