This ultra-sharp image has been produced from a mosaic of NASA Hubble Space Telescope (HST) images combined with the wide view of the Mosaic Camera on the National Science Foundation's 0.9-meter telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. The eye-like quality of this stunning image has earned it the name “The Eye of God.” The Helix Nebula, the remnant of a Sun-like star, was sculpted by a torrential gush of gases escaping from the dying star and forming a trillion-mile-long tunnel of glowing gases.

The "eye"
I certainly agree it looks like an eye. An eye of someone bloodshot and not that of God though. God would have kind eyes. It is really gases.
