The Staffordshire Bull Terrier (also known as a Staffie, Stafford, Staffross, Staffy or Staff) is a medium-sized, short-coated, old-time breed of dog noted for its stocky, muscular appearance. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed originated in England, and is related to the bull terrier and similar in appearance to the much larger American Staffordshire terrier and American pit bull terrier. Due to its breeding, the Staffordshire is known for its character of indomitable courage, high intelligence, and tenacity. This, coupled with its affection for its friends, its off-duty quietness and trustworthy stability, make it a foremost all-purpose dog. It has been said that "No breed is more loving with its family"
