Hubble photograph of V838 Monocerotis dust clouds
This image, from the Hubble Space Telescope, shows the dust clouds around the red variable star V838 Monocerotis, located in the Monoceros constellation 20,000 light years from Earth. The dust shells were temporarily illuminated as a result of a rare light echo in 2002.
