Study for Battle Cascina Michelangelo Renaissance Coffee Mugs
Study for the Battle of Cascina (1504) by Michelangelo (1475–1564) is a vintage Renaissance fine art pen and ink over black chalk drawing featuring the back of a man. The painting was commissioned from Michelangelo by Piero Soderini, statesman of the Republic of Florence. It was intended to be a fresco painted on a wall of the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio. Michelangelo never completed the battle of Cascina, though several of the preparatory drawings survive.
