Maritime Series relates to a sequence of studies produced for commissioned digital mural art project for a corporate building in Chile. In addition this project is to be presented at the Florence Bienal 2003. The overall theme is an allegorical description of the history of navegation from the conception of the spanish galeon during the reign of Charles V and the establishment of the first commercial routes in the New World.
Study I is a tribute to the organic structure of the galeon where the various nuances are inhanced with liquid Tusche washes interwooven with India Ink drawings. The depiction of positive and negative space is strongly suggested by a sense of fluidity and hydrodynamics.
For most part this series was worked with india ink, lacquer solvent Tusche washes, distilled water Tusche washes and rubbing ink.
