I think of Imagination as the first step upon the path of enlightenment. It is the quintessential element that drives us to search for answers. Thus in my work I often seek to awaken and inspire the imagination of others.
Astronomy and Physics are passions of mine and I love exploring our Universe through imagination. My work is often visual explorations of concepts I study, expressions of the possibilities that may or may not prove to be. For we must first imagine a concept before we can begin to search for ways by which to test such ideas and as an artist I’m allowed to slip out of the realm of science and into the dominion of science fiction (for those really wild pieces). While as an artist aesthetics are important to me when I work, it is my imagination that is in control. It gives my work a uniqueness that sets it apart from others because its origin comes from what makes me who I am. Art is one of very few things that brings peace to my mind which is most often in turmoil from the mental illness and is the one thing that offers me a means to overcome the physical disability that keeps me trapped in a bed, allowing me to earn money from my hard work and imagination. |
