The Frog & The Fairy - Magnet
by dchaddad
Ida Rentoul Outhwaite, 1888-1960, was born in Melborne, Australia. Though she had no formal training in art her family soon recognized her natural imaginative talent and encouraged her at home. In 1903, when only 15 Ida had published several fairy drawings and had designed and illustrated a number of Christmas cards. Her first book illustrations were for Mollies Bunyip which was published when she was the grand old age of 16. These were quickly followed by illustrations for many books, most written by her sister Anne and her husband Grenbry Outhwaite.
This is a 1922 children’s book illustration by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite from the book titled “The Little Green Road to Fairyland”. The frog and the young fairy are about the same size and each is sitting on a rock across from each other in a beautiful woodland pond. They are surrounded by pretty purple flowers and water lilies and appear to be having a conversation.

This is such a wonderful image! Reminds me of the frogs and dragonflies that used to dart about the swimming pond I went to as a kid. 5*s
