About this design
The Red Buoy by Paul Signac, Vintage Pointillism Envelopes
The Red Buoy (La Bouée Rouge) (1895) by Paul Signac is a vintage pointillism fine art maritime painting. A seascape featuring a Mediterranean Sea port scene with a red buoy and sailboats in the harbor in the city of St. Tropez on the french Riviera in the south of France. There is a beautiful reflection of the buildings in the water.
About the artist:
Paul Victor Jules Signac (1863-1935) was a French neo-impressionist painter who helped develop the pointillist style. With the influence of George Seurat he abandoned the short brushstrokes of impressionism to experiment with scientifically juxtaposed small dots of pure color, intended to combine and blend not on the canvas but in the viewer's eye, the defining feature of pointillism.
