Let me tell you a story. In 1998 a young women was faced with the sudden death of her husband. At the hospital she was approached by someone representing the Gift of Life. With no hesitation the young women said yes. 2 Days prior she and her husband had this very conversation after watching the movie with Jamie Lee Kurtis. They both agreed to be donors.

In 2000 the young women was diagnosed with progressive emphazema and was told that if she didn't quit smoking she would be the youngest Lung Transplant recipient that her Dr. had. She did not have the strength to quit smoking the cigarettes owned her. In 2005 wearing oxygen 24/7 (age 45) and the lungs of an 80 yr. old person, she was faced with a decision whether or not to go for the transplant. Either way she needed to stop smoking. As time passed and she realized that if she ever wanted any type of normal life, she would need to do the transplant.

Finally, she went on the transplant list. She got herself off the cigarettes and went on the Transplant list @ the end of 2006 July 1, 2007 she received her Gift of Life. Unfortunately, one of the lungs were damaged. But given her 1 lung was just as good as 2. In 2008 she went to Pittsburgh Pa. and participated in the Transplant Games. And continues to be active in the Gift of Life and spreading the word.
