Roses are undoubtedly the most recurrent flower in tattooing; it is to western cultures what the lotus is for eastern cultures: a symbol of perfection. Roses, like every flower, have also some precise meanings, which vary though according to their colours: red roses speak of passion, yellow roses indicate jealousy, and so on... Dont know what black roses mean... maybe just coolness!!
