U.S. Three Dollar Bill: Confused? - Apron
U.S. Three Dollar Bill: Confused? - Apron
'As phony as a three dollar bill.' Well... not exactly. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the Continental Congress, in May 1775, decided to issue paper money to finance the war. The 'Continentals' as they were called were rapidly put into circulation. However, people soon realized that Congress could not possibly redeem them for any gold or silver, let alone Spanish Dollars. Needless to say, the purchasing power of the three dollar bill and many others like it soon vanished. While this is not a true image of the three dollar bill – it is a faithful colored, graphic re-rendering of one of the few remaining examples – it is indeed a classic representation of the bill issued by a resolution of Congress in Philadelphia on July 22, 1776. Everything is a template object and can easily be changed, re-sized or deleted. Please feel free to customize and add photos, sentiments or the message of your choice. Zazzle makes it easy and fun! This fascinating example of United States, or rather Congressional, financial history is available here at Bon Ton Designs on many other products.
