On the grounds of Dalhousie Castle, which sets on the banks of the River Esk just south of Edinburgh, they have a wonderful Falconry programme. It was my youngest son's special treat whilst we were in the area. Steppe Eagles are a medium size eagle, roughly half the size of its relative the Golden Eagle, and are native to the Russian and Mongolian Steppes, as well as other areas of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. By the way, the hand inside the glove was mine. It was truly a once in a lifetime moment, being able to handle such a magnificient creature.
