WARNING ! DANGER ! Do Not Cross Tracks ! Mouse Pad
This Safety Sign is posted by Amtrak to remind people that HIGH SPEED PASSENGER TRAINS use these tracks. The
Acela Express can travel up to 150 MPH.
Even if the Engineer does see you, it might take a up to a mile to stop the train.
Never race a train to cross the tracks !
Since nearly two-thirds of all collisions occur during daylight hours, in crossings
equipped with automatic warning devices, driver inattention must be the major cause.
The U.S. Federal Railway Administration (FRA) reports about 500 trespassing deaths along railroad tracks each
year. A fact sheet released in 2008 by the FRA calls trespassing on railroads' private property and along
rights of way "the leading cause of rail-related fatalities in America."
28 railroad trespassers were killed in Pennsylvania last year, a 21.7% increase from the year before.
