By now most of us know that toxic chemicals have become ubiquitous in our environment and that their indiscriminate use has taken a terrible toll on honeybees, wild bee species, butterflies, and other beneficial insects as well as other creatures above them in the food chain, including people. However, many homeowners are still unaware of the fact that the toxic chemical pesticide-based lawn and tree "care" products and services that they use are hastening the precipitous decline--and perhaps even the extinction--of the pollinators upon whose ecosystem services we absolutely depend for approximately one third of all the food we eat. Here is a list of products containing bee-killing neonicotinoid-class pesticides that should never be used: http://www.centerforfoodsafety.org/files/pesticide_list_final_59620.pdf Toxic chemical pesticides are out-of-sight and thus out-of-mind for many people. Each of us can become part of the solution by refusing to use toxic chemical pesticides and by encouraging our neighbors to do the same. By posting a sign on your property that serves as an ongoing reminder to your neighbors and to passersby of the link between toxic chemical pesticides and the unintended collateral damage they cause, you become an important part of the solution. Thank you spreading the word via your yard sign purchase!
