Your view of human history is drastically flawed. I'll go with the latter. The last 200 years have had some great expressions of thought. Mostly John Locke, Jefferson, and Adams. Open your mind (CHANGE) what you think about your secure document. You have no clue about the FRAMERS of the constitution, with the ultimate goal being competition among thought.
