Thank you for visiting the store. We hope you will find our products interesting and attractive. We run a full service, online antiquarian bookshop, and come across many books, atlases, maps and prints that are in the public domain because of their age. When possible we scan them at the highest resolution possible, edit them for color, soiling, etc., and use them for products here along with images from other public domain sources.
vintage prints, cards, artwork, and other items made from public domain images we have scanned from old books, antiquarian maps, classic art, posters, and other sources.
If you cannot find a product you want, please ask. It is easy to create a new option, and we are happy to oblige. We have tried to anticipate many needs, by making images available in many variation on different products, but obviously need to limit the range of choices to avoid too much clutter. Most products you can easily edit yourself to fit your final need, but if you are having difficulty or would like it changed in a way you cannot do please ask. For example, we are happy to create custom products such as calendars with the specific image you need. Keep in mind, though, that if you see an image in a calendar, binder, shirt or other product, you can go to customize and edit it yourself to move, copy and rearrange any images to the arrangement and positioning you desire.
* High resolution, or "high res" jpeg and png files will produce very nice images as long as the DPI (dots per inch) remains high. Our images are created to maintain the highest resolution possible, and our products are designed to maximize this effect. Most products are based on JPG (JPEG) files, which are easier to manipulate and edit, primarily because of file size (megabytes). Images are enhanced and balanced to remain as true as possible to the colors and lighting of the original artwork, and unnecessary edits are avoided when possible. Some works may not be available in the largest poster sizes, as we have decided they will not reproduce well enough in these very larger formats. For the most part, though, the original files are large enough and of sufficient clarity and quality to allow reproduction in even the "large" or "colossal" poster formats.
