City of Women Lesbian Pulp Fiction Coffee Mug
City of Women was written in 1952 by Nancy Morgan. A group of women are trapped behind barbed wire in Hawaii during the war. This is one of the first lesbian pulp fiction novels. These vintage paperback covers represent the crack in the closet door. This book and others like it were, for some, the only clue that there were other women in the world like them. Most were written portraying lesbians as tragic figures who ended up dead or in jail for being who they were.
