Colorful Texas Wildlife Poster
ink drawing on 9″×11″ sketchbook paper I’ve been thinking about rattlesnakes ever since I remembered the time I took the boys to the park (1 block from my house) and we watch a man kill an 8 ft rattlesnake with a baseball bat. We tip toed through the park that day! Rob (my oldest) was about 6 when he brought home a dead rattlesnake. Luckily it was several days dead. He got a long lecture about touching dead animals especially snakes and bats. Supposedly snake venom can be used to make heart medications. It certainly did something for my heart that day. While we are on the subject of dead things and little boys bringing them home…My youngest son was 5 when he brought a dead squirrel home wrapped in a blanket. He wanted me to put it in the microwave, warm it up and bring it back to life so he could keep it. I explained you only put food in the microwave and gave him the picking up dead things speech. I’m lucky he didnt remember me putting light bulbs in the microwave.
