Frederic Remington's The Mexican Major (1889) Binder
A classic artwork that has passed into the public domain and makes wonderful gifts and other products. Remington had a lifelong fascination with the military, and military scenes form the west, southwest, and the Spanish American War make up a good portion of his work.. His romantic notion of battle was tempered somewhat after he spent some time with fighting troops in 1898 in Cuba. Remington was the foremost illustrator, painter, and sculptor of the American West at the close of the frontier era, at the end of the 19th century. His sculptures of cowboys are iconic, and his painting of cowboys, Indians, soldiers and frontiersmen were highly popular during his lifetime and have only become more so in the century since. All of our products are made with large scale images that have been carefully edited to provide the best resolution, color and detail possible.
