French Gold Fleurs de Lis on Azur Banner Scarf

French Gold Fleurs de Lis on Azur Banner Scarf

French Gold Fleurs de Lis on Azur Banner ... symbol of French kings since Merovingian King Clovis I King of the Franks circa AD 500. Background is Azur / Cobalt Blue / Egyptian Blue ... given to Clovis I when he converted to the true faith to win a battle and become king of an expanded territory in what would become Germany and France The earliest known Salian Franks ancestors of Clovis were located in Netherlandish territory along the green banks of the River Ijssel in an area called Salland. These Salian Franks migrated West and South into the area which later became Belgium. The gold fleur de lis symbol is believed to be from the golden yellow iris flowers which commonly grew along the green banks of the dutch rivers such as River Ijssel in Salland near where Castle Westerveld was later built north of Zwolle, Over-Ijssel ... As Clovis I swore to convert to the true faith of his wife to win the battle Heavenly angels appeared and gave the field of golden yellow fleur de lis symbol on azur banner to all his troops and thus became the French banner of a long series of kings. My 13th great grandfather Jean Fouquet was a court painter to the French King Charles VII ... and he painted the king as one of the three magi in his painting the Adoration of the Magi kneeling upon a French banner of a field of gold fleurs de lis on the azur background.
