Office Christmas Decorations

Ho ho ho-ly moly, there’s a lot of work to get through this festive season, and unless you’ve asked jolly old St. Nick for a sack full of year-on-year growth, you’d better keep your nose to the grindstone and make sure you sleigh those targets. Just kidding. We know that Christmas is a key time for many businesses, and maximizing revenue is essential, but in order to achieve these goals it’s also important to keep morale high around the office. If you’d like to make your workplace a little merrier and instill some of the holiday spirit in the entire staff, then, join us as we list off some décor ideas that will have even the most jaded Christmas cynic gleefully exclaiming “God bless us, everyone” this year!

Theme Work Makes The Dream Work

When it comes to office Christmas decorations, there isn’t necessarily a need for cohesion. There’s nothing wrong with opting for a fun mish-mash of modern and traditional, DIY and store bought. However, if you prefer continuity over chaos, adopting a theme—like one of those listed below—will make it easier to create flowing and visually stunning décor.

Winter Wonderland

With spruces, firs, and pines dusted in fake snow, shimmering silver snowflakes, and icy blue backdrops, you can turn your office into an enchanting wintry landscape that wouldn’t look out of place in a Christmas fairytale.

The Traditional Approach

Many of us are dreaming of a white Christmas, but green, red, and gold are the colors most closely associated with the season. Embrace this classic color palette by hanging traditional wreaths, incorporating sprigs of holly in your décor, and decorating your trees with red ribbon and gold ornaments, stars, or bells.

Santa’s Village

There’s no need to bring live reindeer into the office or anything like that, but you can certainly select décor featuring Rudolph and the gang. As well as reindeer, think elves on shelves, candy canes, and Santa-themed banners or tapestries. If you want to go even further, you could create a North Pole-style workshop or decorate cubicles to look like little elf huts.

The Vintage Look

Raid thrift stores to pick up vintage decorations, or even ask employees to comb their attics for long-forgotten Christmas treasures, to create a retro look that exudes quirky charm. You can also hang Victorian-style tree ornaments, and place nutcrackers of varying sizes throughout the office space to complete this theme.

Diverse Décor

Why not embrace the diversity within your workplace by asking employees to showcase their own cultural traditions through decorations? This will allow you to celebrate a variety of customs, holidays, and festive décor from around the world, whilst encouraging everyone to get involved (more on that later!)

Rustic Warmth

With plaid throws, check pillows, natural wooden ornaments, pine cones, and garlands you can create a warm, cozy and rustic look that’s sure to help employees stay calm and clients feel relaxed—even during the hectic holiday rush.

Tree-mendous Décor

Regardless of what theme you decide upon, a Christmas tree, or perhaps multiple Christmas trees, will be central to your décor. Of course, as beautiful as they are, bare trees aren’t particularly festive, so you’ll need some accessories to spruce things up. Our tree ornaments are a great starting point, as you can choose from a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials to suit your theme, and then personalize your chosen bauble with your company logo. Tinsel, of course, is a wonderful way to add color, texture, and a little sparkle to your trees. Choose white, silver, or even blue for your Winter Wonderland theme, or good old-fashioned red for a more traditional look.

Add a warm and inviting glow to your display with fairy lights, energy-efficient LED lights, or even a shining LED star placed atop the tree. If you’d prefer something more secular than a star, you’ll find an array of eye-catching tree toppers online, from Santas and snowmen to birds and festive felines. Finally, polish off your tree décor with a custom tree skirt, on top of which you can place some beautifully wrapped Christmas gift boxes.

Deck the Walls

So, your tree looks majestic, but there’s still work to be done. What about those walls? They offer plenty of room for decorations, after all, and they’d look soooo much better bedecked with vibrant banners, bunting, or wall decals wishing employees, clients, and visitors a very Merry Christmas. Like our banners, our tapestries also make picturesque photo backdrops for company Instagram snaps that are sure to help drive brand engagement over the festive period.

Now time for a bonus theme idea: Christmas movies. If you’d like to decorate your office with merchandise from some of your favorite festive flicks, we have officially licensed posters, prints, and more from Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A Charlie Brown Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and a host of Disney holiday classics. However, you’ll also find posters to suit a wide variety of other themes and color palettes in our enormous collection of wall art.

Desk-over Discover More Décor

Desks and tables offer yet another canvas for artistic flourishes. In public spaces, you can put together miniature nativity scenes, or utilize festive figurines—such as Victorian carolers for your vintage theme—to create cute displays. You can also inform team members of upcoming company Christmas events with tabletop signs that are not just informative but also aesthetically pleasing.

When it comes to individual desks, there are two different approaches that you can take: you can give each employee the freedom to decorate their own desk, or you can provide them with items like miniature Christmas trees and personalized name plates that fit your theme.

Who Wants to Partay?!

Hopefully, you’re already feeling inspired, and your mind is just racing with décor ideas at this point. Much of what we’ve already written can be used to guide your Christmas party decoration choices too, but there’s also a few additional items you’ll need. For example, themed tableware, such as paper plates, disposable cups, and napkins, are essential party supplies. To ensure that there are no unsightly rings left on desks or office furniture, customized coasters will come in handy as well.

If your company is particularly large and you’re planning a sit-down meal, you might also need table numbers, seating charts, and menus. However, if you’re simply offering finger food and drinks, our aforementioned tabletop signs are ideal for letting everyone know where they can pick up a cupcake, or maybe even a mimosa. Lastly, you can send them home happy by adding a few little surprises to our favor boxes and bags—complemented, of course, by exquisite favor tags.

Getting Everyone Involved

Christmastime is all about togetherness and community spirit, and, as such, it’s a great opportunity for team-building. We’ve already mentioned a couple of ways that you can get people involved in the process, but there’s a myriad of other approaches you can take too. To begin with, it might be a good idea to set up a decorating committee, comprising a diverse group of employees to ensure that different perspectives are brought to the table. This committee could also poll the entire staff for their opinions on themes, or set up a digital bulletin board where their colleagues can share ideas.

Setting up craft workshops in which teammates can fashion DIY ornaments, holiday card garlands, and other decorations is another fun team-building exercise to get everyone involved. However, if you really want to foster creativity and incentivize participation, you should try drum up a little competition by arranging contests with prizes. Some fun office Christmas decorating contest ideas include ‘Best Desk Décor,’ ‘Most Creative Ornament,’ and ‘Most Festive Team Area.’

We made a list, we checked it twice, and we hope you found it helpful and nice. However, if you have any ideas for office Christmas decorations that we didn’t cover here, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below. Merry Christmas!
