How to Address Your Wedding Invitation Envelopes
Elegance in Formal Titles
Elevate the formality of your wedding invitations with the inclusion of appropriate titles. Whether it’s Mr., Mrs., or Dr., these titles add an elegant touch, showing respect and setting the tone for a refined celebration.
Clarity through Full Names
Avoid any room for confusion by including the full names of both partners on the invitation. Clarity is foremost, as it ensures your guests understand precisely who the honored guests are.
Sequencing for Family Warmth
For invitations involving families, the sequencing of names holds sentimental value. Listing children’s names in order of age, with parents at the forefront, not only adds visual harmony but also conveys a sense of familial warmth.
Elegance in Address Details
Aim for a polished look by spelling out complete addresses. This attention to detail enhances the overall elegance of your wedding invitations, leaving a lasting impression on your esteemed guests.
RSVP Instructions with Thoughtful Clarity
Facilitate the RSVP process with clear instructions. Whether through a wedding website, email, or a beautifully designed response card, provide your guests with thoughtful guidance to ensure a seamless and enjoyable response experience.

Types of Address Examples
Did you know that, depending on who you’re sending the invitation to, the format of the envelope address can change? We’re happy to guide you through the correct address format for your invitations depending on the guest. If your wedding will be a black tie event, then be sure to include formal titles for everyone; on the other hand, you can keep it more casual by simply putting the person’s name without a Mr. or Mrs. in front of it.
Inviting a Single Person
First things first: make sure you use the person’s preferred pronouns/title. If you’re not sure, you can use general titles or just put their name. For invitations that will include a guest, it’s best to include both names and if you don’t know the plus one’s name then simply add “and Guest.”
For example:
Dr. Elizabeth Moore & Guest
11 First Street
Charlotte, NC
Or
Ms. Elizabeth Moore & James Smith
11 First Street
Charlotte, NC
Inviting a Family
When it comes to inviting a family, it’s important to break down the list of family members. If one of the kids is over 18 years old, then they should receive their own invitation. Any kids under 18 years old will be included with their parents. You should be including every kid’s name individually, but if you don’t know the children’s names then you can simply put “and Family.”
Note: If you want an adult-only wedding, it’s best to include this information on your wedding website, the invitation itself, and then share it by word of mouth. In the case of a child-free wedding, only put the parent’s names on the envelopes.
For example:
Mr. & Mrs. Micheal Johnson and Family
28 Main Street
Miami, Florida
Or
Mr. Michael & Mrs. Emily Johnson
Sarah, James, Kyle and John
28 Main Street
Miami, Florida
Inviting a Married Couple
When inviting a married couple with no kids, then you’ll have things a lot easier. Just make sure you put the name of the partner that you’re closer to first, if you’re equally close with both of them, then it’s best to go in alphabetical order. Finally, bear in mind that if one person took the other’s last name, then it’s best to honor that decision.
For example:
Mr & Mrs Harris
35 Rose Lawn
Philadelphia, PA
Or
Sarah Marshall and James Harris
35 Rose Lawn
Philadelphia, PA
