Maxfield Parrish Humpty Dumpty Fantasy Card
Maxfield Parrish Humpty Dumpty Fantasy Illustration Renowned illustrator Maxfield Parrish created this humpty dumpty illustration for Life Magazine in March 12, 1921. An egg-like person called Humpty Dumpty is sitting on the wall, just like the old-fashioned nursery rhyme says. The illustration is in the same iconic Maxfield Parrish style so prevalent on the Parrish magazine illustrations of the early 1900s, which were the golden age of american illustration. Maxfield Parrish's early work was fun, depicting neo-classic and medieval characters and mythical creatures, such as giants, dragons, and castles from days of old. His style was highly graphic, and his colors were luminous due to his technique of underpainting and glazing. Humpty Dumpty is an English nursery rhyme, which goes like this: Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall Humpty Dumpty had a great fall All the king's horses and all the king's men Couldn't put Humpty together again
