Newborn Baby Orangutan Wildlife Charity Coffee Mug
Help save wildlife and promote awareness about the endangered, red ape, the orangutan. A rare orangutan family photograph from the rainforest of Kalimantan, Indonesia (island of Borneo) This photo by OFI founder and primatologist, Dr. Birute M. Galdikas, shows the newborn male baby of famous orangutan mother, Akmad. Wildlife supporters can drink their favorite beverage with a piece of animal history. In October 1975, this orang-utan (as they are called in their native land of Indonesia) mom was a cover girl on National Geographic magazine. As an orphan herself, Akmad has gone on to be quite the grande dame of Camp Leakey and Tanjung Puting National Park. If you are wondering why the word orangutan is spelled orang-utan in the paragraph above, it is becuse the word "orang" in the Indonesian language means "people." Orangutans are so intelligent that the indigenous people always referred to them as orang-utan (people of the forest). Your purchase of this coffee / tea mug helps to support the conservation of the gentle and intelligent great ape, the orangutans. Their rapidly disappearing natural habitat is the rainforest of Sumatra and Borneo. Thank you for helping us to save these amazing animals.
