Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Calendar
Along the east rim of the Pine Creek Gorge, better known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon is a modern state park nestled in the pristine cliffside park called Leonard Harrison State Park. This park was built initially with the help of the Civilian Conservation Corps many years ago and still bears its rustic charms, however was renovated in the mid 90s to make it handicap acessible at the top rim and an easy walk from the free parking lot. You enter through a breezeway in the main building and continue on a few hundred feet to a splendid overlook that enables views to the north, west and south~! There is another stair way built at the south end of the overlook for those who can walk the steps and then can see an even more dramatic southerly view. The park is open year round and admission is free. The museum [when open] has a wildlife display of all the types of animals that live in the canyon. The parking lot has a full sized replica log cabin and there are plenty of picnic tables about. The Turkey Path is a mile long walk down into the gorge for those who are able to descend and ascend it. The views year round are spectacular and often you will see eagles and osprey soaring right out in front of you at the overlook as if suspended in mid air.
