Richard Wagner Card
Richard Wagner “Joy is not in things, it is in us.” Wilhelm Richard Wagner (1813 – 1883) was a German composer, conductor, theatre director and essayist, primarily known for his operas. Unlike most other opera composers, Wagner wrote both the music and libretto for every one of his works. Richard Wagner's musical legacy rests with only thirteen completed stage works. Of these, ten of them have remained in the repertory of all major opera houses around the world, and represent some of the most loved, most often performed, and innovative works created by any composer in the 19th century. Wagner did more than any other composer to change music, and indeed to change art and thinking about it. His life and his music arouse passions like no other composer's. His works are hated as much as they are worshipped; but no-one denies their greatness.
