About This Design
Rouen Cathedral, Harmony Blue Gold by Claude Monet Postage
Rouen Cathedral, Portal and Tour d'Albane, Full Sunlight, Harmony in Blue and Gold (1894) by Claude Monet is a vintage impressionism fine art architectural painting. A beautiful old church in Rouen, in northwestern France. The Rouen Cathedral series captures the façade of the cathedral at different times of the day and year, tracing changes in its appearance under different lighting conditions, sunrises, sunsets, midday, etc. Preliminary work on the paintings was done during late winter in 1892 and 1893, then reworked in Monet’s studio in 1894. About the artist: Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a founder of the French impressionist painting movement with most of his paintings being "en plein air" (in the open air) style impressionism landscapes.
