Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres) Card
The ruddy turnstone (Arenaria interpres) is one of two species of sandpipers commonly found on Unalaska Island. There are many species of sandpipers found along the shores of Alaska, which is a rich habitat for wild birds. This photo of Arenaria interpres was taken on the beach by the spit in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. The sandpipers are often seen searching the shallows of the tideland for food.
