I used to live on the seventh floor of this downtown apartment. It was right on the riverwalk and a magnificent work of art as a building. It had incredible low relief carvings of Mayan glyphs, true to the originals. Anyway, I lived there for 5yrs and had some strange experiences. Alex Haley was living there and working on ''Roots'' . I would run into him from time to time in the elevator. Nice person. Tommy Lee Jones lived across the river in a condo. I bumped into him rounding the corner of the building and spilled his groceries all over the pavement. He didn't say a word as I helped him. He rushed away not even giving me a glance. I thought, where have I seen that guy? He was already well known. Anyway!, back to the erie stuff. I lived right under the dome on the 7th floor. The lady who had moved in before me, had never returned, leaving her rent paid and all her belongings behind. The land lady said if I would move all her stuff up into the attic, I could move in. As I gathered her meager belongings, I found she had many books, many, on the metaphysical, the occult and many more of Edgar Cayces'. I took her belongings upstairs. As I was strutting down the spiral stairs I felt as if someone brushed my neck. Needless to say, color me gone.Late at nite me and my girfriend of would here sounds coming from the attic. Sounds of footsteps, then the voices of many people. There would be frequent knocks on our door and there was nobody there. Later, my freind and author, Ed Conroy was writing a book on Whitley Strieber, and his strange encounters with otherworldy beings. One day he was at the Casino Building, (that's what it was called) interviewing someone who had a connection to Whitley. Suddenly the tthundering rotors of a Man-Of-War Helicopter was facing him right outside the large glass windows, which were shaking, and had it's cannons trained right on him! Later, the nearby airforce bases denied having any choppers around the downtown area. It came down to 50 feet in the middle of downtown above a parking lot! Anyway, I had strange dreams there and this piece of art, pastel on paper, is one of them. That was back in the early 80's. Sometimes it takes decades for an event to reach my expression of it. I posed for this piece. whew!
