The Episcopal Palace of Astorga Postcard
Gaudi Palace Astorga Cathedral Episcopal Palace of Astorga is a building designed by architect Antoni Gaudí, The greatest exponent of Catalan Modernism. It is located next to the cathedralOn the square Eduardo de Castro. The construction was carried out between 1889 and 1915. Some years earlier there had been a fire in the episcopal palace, which left him completely destroyed. Since the city did not have a diocesan architect, Bishop Joan Baptista Grau Vallespinós decided to commission the construction of the new episcopal palace Gaudi, with whom the bishop maintained a long friendship. Built of gray granite from the Leon region of BierzoThe building has a facade that features four round towers, and surrounded by a moat.
