Vintage Christmas, The Road Winter, Sleigh Horse Mug
Vintage illustration Christmas holiday design originally published by Currier & Ives in 1853 titled The Road - Winter. This love and romance design features a couple taking a romantic winter ride in a horse drawn sleigh over the snowy landscape. This artwork was possibly a portrait of Nathaniel Currier and his wife done by his staff as a wedding gift. Currier and Ives was a successful American printmaking firm headed by Nathaniel Currier (1813–1888) and James Merritt Ives (1824–1895) based in New York City from 1834 to 1907. The prolific firm produced prints from paintings by fine artists as black and white lithographs that were hand colored.
