1825 Vintage Wild Turkey Postcard

This vintage image “Wild Turkey“ was engraved from painting made by John James Audubon, an American naturalist and painter, in 1825 at Beechwoods Plantation, Feliciana Parish (now known as West Feliciana Parish) Louisiana. Audubon was the young man who in the early 1800s announced his intention to paint every bird in North America and who essentially ditched oil paint (the medium of the day) in favor of watercolors and pastel crayons and sometimes chalk, charcoal, pencil, and pen and ink.
