1920s Knickerbocker Theatre playbill cover Ceramic Tile

1920s Knickerbocker Theatre playbill cover Ceramic Tile

A few years ago, I found at a flea market a huge collection of Broadway playbills, dating from the late 1910s through the early 1930s. This image came from one of them. A nifty print for all kinds of EVERYTHING, including tiles. Perfect for the Broadway decor, theatre decor (and also theater decor) artsy decor, or eclectic decor. BTW, some neat little history: The theatre was built at 1398 Broadway in 1893, and was originally called the Abbey Theatre, named for producer and theatre manager Henry Abbey, who managed the booking house until his death in 1896. Then, the Theatrical Syndicate group assumed control and renamed it the Knickerbocker. In 1906, it introduced Broadway's first moving electric sign, an advertisement for the current production. The building was sold after the stock market crash, and demolished in 1930. Wanna see more old? Here's my blog!! www.fullservicebohemian.blogspot.com

Ceramic Tile, 4.25" x 4.25"
From the pictures we needed to replace two tiles that had the old toothbrush and soap dish and the tile guy said two tiles would have to be removed. The tiles were PERFECT! just a slight color difference to the naked eye but they match pretty darn good. Tile guy had to shave the back because the 1957 tile was thinner but as you can see it worked out great! We are elated over the moon happy, Thank you!
