1923 Rosewood a Black Wall Street History T-Shirt

2023 marks the 100th year anniversary of the Rosewood Massacre. We want to not only commemorate that tragic event, but to celebrate descendants of the survivors and the greatness that the community of Rosewood achieved before its destruction. By 1900, the town of Rosewood was predominantly black. A black family, the Goins family, was the second largest landowners in Levy County. The town was self-sufficient, middle class and prosperous, with three churches, a school, a large Masonic Hall, a turpentine mill, a sugarcane mill, a baseball team named the Rosewood Stars, and two general stores, one of which was white-owned. Blacks have never relied on the government to thrive in America. Blacks thrived in spite of government policies like Jim Crow segregation, the Black-codes, systemic racism and bigotry.
