1-sided Jesus Greets Little Angels with Lilies Garden Flag

Come to Jesus… Welcome guests to your Prayer Garden with a garden flag from Saints_Aplenty on Zazzle! This flag features Jesus as a youth greeting three little angels with lilies. At first glance, the three little female figures could be mistaken just for pre-teen girls. But, a partial wing at the extreme left of the picture in golden yellow, aqua blue, and rosy pink identifies them as little angels. (Compare the companion piece MH 003.) The angels all wear headbands, white robes, and a peculiar spotted ‘vest’ for which we have been unable to find a precedent. In the religious language of flowers, lilies stand for purity. All four figures are dressed in white denoting their innocence. + Image Credit (MH 004): Antique image in chromolithography captioned in Latin as Jesus, salvator noster [Jesus, our savior] from a late 19th-early 20th century devotional print (Series No. 2067), originally published by Max Hirmer, Munich, Germany, from the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera. The original image appears on a small format holy card measuring only about 1.77 in. x 2.75 in. (or 4.5 cm. x 7 cm.). The series was probably aimed at children. Greatly enlarged to fit these flags, the image takes on a not displeasing, almost Impressionist quality.
