Wheal Coates The ruins of Wheal Coates mine overlook the beach at Chapel Porth on the beautiful North coast of Cornwall between St. Agnes and Portreath. Mining has been carried out along this coast since the Middle Ages and Wheal Coates has existed since 1692. The engine houses still standing are from the mine worked from 1872 until it was abandoned in 1914. Sunset This photograph was taken on a stunning October evening as the sun was sinking into the sea.
