Frank Marshall painted this scene based on a photograph taken by writer/editor Joanna Loucky-Ramsey of her husband Bill and their dogs walking behind their house shortly after 10-week-old puppy Havel arrived in America from the Czech Republic. When she saw the painting, she did a double-take: There appeared to be an extra keeshond in Frank's rendition. "Are you a prophet?" she asked. "It's artistic license," Frank replied. "I added an extra dog for balance." "That's a relief," Joanna answered. "We didn't expect to have three dogs, let alone FOUR!!!" Havel lives with Lola and Apache at Hidden Meadow Inn bed and breakfast in Northern New York.
