The 8-wheeled ACV-30 Amphibious Combat Vehicle ordered by the US Marine Corps can self-deploy from an amphibious assault ship at least 12 miles from shore with 17 Marines aboard with a top speed of 8 knots through water. The ACV-30 designation is related to the mounted 30mm gun. With a supposed greater mobility than the M1 Abrams tank, over 550 ACV-30's have been ordered by the USMC.
