Adorable Fox Squirrel in a Tree Eating a Roll Postcard

This beautiful little guy is a Red Fox Squirrel. I was at the park with my family, celebrating one of my daughter's birthdays, when I spotted him on the ground where he quickly scooped up a part of a roll, then scurried up the tree where he settled in to enjoy his bounty. Though he was quite far up, I was fortunate to get such a detailed photograph. You can even see his little tongue sticking out! Red Fox Squirrels are the largest squirrel in North America and can be recognized by there rusty red coloring on the belly and gorgeous plume of a tail. Their tail not only helps them with balance as they navigate across phone lines and other precarious places, it also keeps them warm, especially as they lay sleeping in their dens or nests. Squirrels are funny creatures and a lot of fun to watch. They can be quite the pests, too, but who can't love such a sweet little face?
