【Akizuki Nadeshiko】Nadeshiko crest / The secondary crest of the Akizuki family, a daimyo (feudal lord) with 27,000 koku in Takahama, Hyuga Province. / The Akizuki family originally called themselves Okura. They were named after a place in Harima (Hyogo Prefecture) where they lived. During the Genpei War, they moved to Kyushu and lived in Harada, Chikuzen Province (Fukuoka Prefecture), becoming the Harada family. They built a castle in Akizuki in the same province during the Kenren era (1201-1202) and have been known as Akizuki ever since. Akizuki Castle withstood an attack by the Otomo clan during the Sengoku period but fell to Hideyoshi's forces in 1587. Akizuki Tanenaga surrendered after putting up a resistance. Hideyoshi pardoned him and relocated him to Takahama (now part of Miyazaki Prefecture) with 30,000 koku.
